A thermostat has sensor, regulator, actuator, and setpoint.

Biosophy is not just Wiener-style cybernetics renamed.

A biological loop is existentially coupled to its own energy acquisition, repair, reproduction, boundary maintenance, and failure risk.

A thermostat regulates temperature, but it does not maintain the conditions of its own existence. A living loop does.
